about

Latrell LA Harvey and I (Alexander Webb) had talked about collaborating for years since the early days of us working together as servers at Wildberry Pancakes & Cafe in downtown Chicago, but we never could find the time or inspiration to make it happen. After a couple years passed since those early mornings at Wildberry, and a few job and location changes later... on a random Tuesday evening while I was coming back through Chicago on the last leg of my epically awesome and equally inefficient nation wide tour of 2014, we finally got together at a rehearsal space in my old neighborhood to see what we could come up with. Within minutes we were loving the sound and had a vision for what we wanted to do. I locked myself up in studio 516 (my studio in St. Cloud, MN) for a week... performing, recording & mixing all the music... and singing the vocal parts for the choruses and bridge. Then we met back up in Chicago to track LA's verses in the mobile version of Studio 516 that was temporarily set up in room 200 at a surprisingly forgiving Best Western when it comes to loud music being played/mixed at even the latest & earliest times of day and night :) LA did his thing and absolutely killed it, and we sent the final mix off to be mastered. Here is the final product... Hope you like it! Please share this page and "Just Won't Have It" with your people when you get chances. Thanks so much for visiting, listening, and supporting independent music! Hope to see you at a show soon!!

Gratefully,

Alexander & Latrell

LYRICS

you were my muse, baby
my Mona Lisa, my Picasso
now your heart's colder than the winters in Chicago
you can stop there cause I'm not trying to freeze alone
and it's not fair cause I never tried to lead you on
I thanked the Lord for you
cause I swear you've been a blessing
then you turn around and can't return a text message
I cleaned up the wreckage from the heart you destroyed
I was foolish thinking I did more than just fill a void
I must have been crazy
Like Cee Lo said
I heard you call me "baby"
was it all in my head
now this love is unrequited
I'm no longer excited
and I knew you'd come running back
but you're no longer invited

It's like I'm waking up in my own worst nightmare
ones where I just run but I never get there
throw my hardest punch, he just stands there laughing
gave you all my love
but you just won't have it
standing on a stage and my teeth are crumbling
waking up at school and I'm wearing nothing
reaching out my hands, but I never can grab it
gave you all my love
but you just won't have it

it's so pathetic and I regret it
tried to give you every single ounce of my love
but you won't accept it
I must have missed it
I never got the message
cause one day you want to love me
then the next you second guessed it
I shot for the stars, yeah you were out of my league
but i stepped up to the plate and was swinging with ease
guess it was just my imagination
or so it seemed
I'm having nightmares about the girl of my dreams
some might say it's how it had to be
I wish it was a dream, it sucks. It's reality
not even sure if I want to know the truth
but I got one question while I stand in this booth
tell me does it hurt at night?
in that moment of silence for what you let die
I know you say you've got your reasons
that's just fine
you ain't ever getting back what you left behind

It's like I'm waking up in my own worst nightmare
ones where I just run but I never get there
throw my hardest punch, he just stands there laughing
gave you all my love
but you just won't have it
stepping on a stage and my teeth are crumbling
waking up at school and I'm wearing nothing
reaching out my hands, but I never can grab it
gave you all my love
but you just won't have it

tell me, does it hurt at night
the few times no one's by your side
in the bottle and the pills you hide
cause not even you wants to be left alone
with that darkest hole... in your chest
where your heart should go
the one that makes you lose control
and torture the one that you know's going to love you most

tell me, did you just forget
the way it felt when our lips met
those times I made you lose your breath
or is that just something you managed to turn
into routine
the cheapest love I've ever seen
one that always comes and goes
and tortures the one that you know's gonna love you most

It's like I'm waking up in my own worst nightmare
ones where I just run but I never get there
throw my hardest punch, he just stands there laughing
gave you all my love
but you just won't have it
stepping out on stage and my teeth are crumbling
waking up at school and I'm wearing nothing
at my fingertips but I never can grab it
gave you all my love
but you just won't have it
